Most of the area around Lake Sinclair is considered rural. The pace is
slow and easy. Lake Sinclair is surrounded by 3 counties. These are Baldwin, Hancock and Putnam. The largest city closest to the lake is the small college town of
Milledgeville. The population of the Lake Sinclair area is an estimated 80,000. The Lake Sinclair area is serviced by a number of very good highways that makes coming and going
to the Lake Sinclair area a snap. The Lake Sinclair area is within a 3 hour drive from either the Appalachian Mountains or the Atlantic Ocean.
Currently, there is limited commercial development on the lake. There are
several marinas, some full service and some with restaurants. It might be safe
to assume more commercial and residential development is on the way as the
number of full-time lake residents increases. Don't be afraid, there is plenty
to do for entertainment.
For golfers, there is a very nice, affordable golf club with property by Lake Sinclair. The Club at Lake Sinclair offers an excellent 18 hole course and other
amenities. There are several other public & private golf courses in the area.
For aviation lovers, there is a small airport on the lake called the Baldwin
County Airport. It offers a 5,500 ft, paved runway. Some residents keep a car
at the airport and fly in to visit their lake property.
For shoppers, off-water retail facilities in the area include, but are not limited to: Super Wal-Mart, Lowes, large grocery stores, small shopping centers, movie theater and numerous eating and
drinking establishments. For the power shopping crowd, a short drive to Macon, Athens or the suburbs of Atlanta should satisfy almost any shopping need. Macon is about 40 minutes drive
from Milledgeville.
For fitness lovers, you will find that you are in close proximity to a number of heart pounding options. Play basketball, racquetball, sand volleyball or tennis at a park or gym
in Milledgeville. Paddle the waters of Lake Sinclair or the Oconee river just south of the lake. Hike or bike the Rock Hawk Effigy Trails located just north of the
lake between Lake Sinclair and Lake Oconee.
For history lovers, you will have your fill just exploring the numerous historic towns in Central Georgia, including Milledgeville. Milledgeville was once the state capital of Georgia.
Take tours of the old homes and visit any number of high quality museums.
For hunters, Lake Sinclair is surrounded by undeveloped acreage tracts that
support large numbers of wildlife. Join a hunting club, hunt on public lands or work with Lake Sinclair Realty to purchase a small or large acreage tract for yourself.
